I am an American ex pat living in lovely Victoria on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. Prior to this, San Diego, CA was my home. I live with my family just minutes from the University of Victoria (UVIC), where I work in the Department of Political Science.
I am one of the four co-founders for Breathe Now. Our conference will take place in Victoria, BC on Friday, September 30th and Saturday, October 1st. The conference is geared for college aged women through women established in their careers.
I am also an Undergraduate Advisor in my home department. I teach the following courses: Gender and Politics, Gender and International Politics, Worlds of Politics, Feminist Political Thought, Youth Politics, Politics and Popular Culture, American Politics, and American Public Policy.
For the next two years, I am the Chair of the Academic Women’s Caucus at UVIC. I am the past President of the Caucus for Women and Gender Justice with the Western Political Science Association. As you can surmise from this page, I am a feminist and one of my areas of expertise is Gender. I am currently working on an edited volume with Dr. Annalee Lepp and Dr. Heather Tapley. I have other projects on the go and they all touch: popular culture, social media, gender or feminism, and politics.
